Running from 7 to 15 November, visitors can experience some remembrance themed talks, live interpretation and object-handling sessions that bring to life personal stories with a specific focus on WWI, WWII and the Falklands War. These shows have been developed and researched by our Live Interpretation team.

There will also be the opportunity to get close to some of our objects in our object handling sessions after the shows and to ask any questions.

From object handling sessions to costumed characters recounting battle stories, the Royal Armouries Museum displays a variety of different shows every day.

Here are some examples of the stories you might hear during the day:

  • Listen to a soldier share his point of view experience at the Somme during the First World War.
  • Compare the experiences of British and US soldiers from their points of view in our D-Day shows
  • Story of a British soldier in the North African campaign with a surprising connection to the present day revealed by the narrator.
  • Experience life through a British Paratrooper’s eyes fighting in the first land battle of the Falklands War
  • Witness the stealth and courage of a female Special Operations Executive working undercover in enemy territory
  • 3 Girls and a Gun – developed and performed by Leeds Conservatoire graduates this story follows the lives of three women, their part in the war effort and how their paths intertwined.
  • Discover the tactics of trench fighting through a selection of weaponry in our post show object handling

Each show lasts approximately 10 to 15 minutes and visitors will have the opportunity to meet our team after the show.
