Crime and Punishment

January 1899. A murder has been committed on the streets of Leeds. A suspect has been arrested near the scene of the crime, but did they do it?
Join Police Sergeant Buttons for this ultimate murder mystery and a real look at Victorian crime and punishment.
Workshop Content
Mary Brown, a career criminal, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Pupils must put their detective skills to the test to investigate the crime before she goes on trial for her life.
Pupils join Mary in the holding cells to take her witness statement. She recounts her version of events in an interactive storytelling of life in Victorian England and the hardships of ordinary people.
Using the new science of forensics, pupils join Sergeant Buttons to analyse evidence from the crime scene. Pupils will also get hands-on to explore the role of the police and the equipment they used.
Is Mary innocent or guilty? Is someone else responsible? Your pupils will decide her fate.
