British Empire
The British Empire is a contentious period of history that has come under increasing amounts of scrutiny.
As a key subject for your Key Stage 3 pupils study of ideas, political power, industry and empire: Britain, 1745-1901 section of the National Curriculum and substantial portion of AQA, OCR and Edexcel GCSE specifications, the importance of this topic cannot be overstated.
Workshop Information
In this session, pupils will handle objects understand the importance of weapons in the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and deepen their knowledge about this section of the British Empire’s history. Pupils will also explore the role of the British Empire in the First World War via our galleries. After which, they will re-design the displays in order to tell the story of the forces from around the world who fought on behalf of the British Empire.
