Spring at the Fort

Come and enjoy the Easter holidays at Fort Nelson with a whole host of free, fun activities, including an interactive trail and an Easter egg hunt.
Built on top of Portsdown Hill the Fort is a lovely place to visit in the spring, with lots of open space and panoramic views to enjoy.
Fort Nelson is the perfect family day out during school holidays – admission is free and there’s a huge Victorian fort to explore and a lovely café to take a break in.
Take a look at the national collection of artillery in the museum’s galleries – more than 700 pieces spanning 600 years of history – before touring the tunnels which run beneath the fortress.
Spring Trail
It's time to get out into the fresh air and explore the Fort on an exciting spring trail with lots of fun facts to discover and puzzles to solve.
Pick up a free activity sheet on arrival and don't forget to grab a sticker at the end.
Easter egg Hunt
The Easter Bunny has hidden lots of eggs around the Fort - can you find them all?
Pre-book your visit
Admission to Fort Nelson is free. Car parking is £3 - pay on arrival.
Please pre-book your tickets to guarantee your visit, especially during busy periods like school holidays. Book an arrival time and stay as long as you wish.
Museum-only visits: The museum's galleries and extensive collection of artillery are available to visit throughout the Easter period (28 March to 12 April). Please book your visit on this page to help us manage visitor capacities over the Easter holidays.

10am to 5pm
The Fort is open daily during the Easter holidays.
