See our expert live interpretation team bring to life what it felt like to take part in legendary battles from ancient times to the world wars.

Event Info

Our costumed characters take the perspective of the warriors and soldiers who were on the frontline and what it was like to be there when the key moments in history were decided. With a variety of different shows every day, there is plenty of history to discover. Example shows for visitors to enjoy include:

  • Hear a Celtic warrior tell how Boudicca – one of Britain’s greatest heroines – rode fearlessly into battle against the mighty legions of Rome
  • Find out about the Battle of Towton in 1461 – the biggest and bloodiest battle ever to be fought on English soil
  • Hear about the first day of the battle of the Somme, told using first-hand accounts from a soldier who witnessed it first-hand
  • Discover the legend of General Custer through an account of the Battle of Little Big Horn in the fight for the American West

Each show lasts approx. 10-15 minutes, plus time for visitors to ask questions and meet our live interpreters.

We usually have shows every day, however due to staff sickness we may need to substitute for our popular combat demonstrations and shows at short notice. However, there will always be live interpretation activities for our audiences to enjoy.
