Connecting Royal Mail with the treasures of the Royal Armouries for a special stamp issue to delight history fans.

Royal Mail sought to create a visually striking and historically rich stamp collection that would engage a broad audience and celebrate the remarkable artefacts of the Royal Armouries. The challenge was to bring the story of centuries of craftsmanship, history, and innovation from over 75,000 objects in the collection to a set of 12 stamps in a way that would resonate with collectors, history enthusiasts, and the general public alike.

Curating an iconic collection

Royal Armouries collaborated closely with the design team at Royal Mail to carefully select extraordinary artefacts that both showcase the depth of the collection and feature visually outstanding craftmanship.

Throughout the project, Royal Armouries curators provided historical expertise, ensuring that each object’s significance was accurately conveyed while maintaining visual impact.

Through a multi-channel, collaborative launch campaign the Royal Armouries stamp issue garnered significant media exposure including several national press features such as in The Independent and Daily Mail, online articles from BBC and License Global, and an interview on BBC Radio Leeds.
