Fact or Fiction

Over a three-part series for BBC Two, Lucy Worsley examines the extraordinary relationship between Conan Doyle and his creation Sherlock Holmes.

Wanting to explore how Doyle draws on technological changes happening all around him to bring Holmes to life, we were challenged with putting a scenario from the story to the test – could an air rifle be powerful enough to shoot through a windowpane and its target?
