Chief Operating Officer

Rod Taylor joined the Royal Armouries as Chief Operating Officer in February 2014, and stepped up to cover the Director General post on an interim basis, from February to September 2022.

Rod studied Human Resources Management at Huddersfield University and joined the Science Museum Group in 2001 in an HR management role. After progressing through a series of increasingly broader roles, Rod was appointed Operations Director with responsibilities across the National Media Museum, Bradford and the National Railway Museum in York.

After a period in the social care sector, Rod was appointed in 2009 as Director of Operations to form the charitable trust and launch The Hepworth Wakefield, progressing to Deputy Director two years later. During his five years at TWH, the gallery achieved international and critical acclaim and won a number of prestigious awards.

Rod is a Trustee for the Association for Cultural Enterprise and a non-Executive Director at Horniman Museum Enterprise.
