The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds is a great place to study history. There are over 8,000 objects on display in six fascinating galleries: War, Tournament, Oriental, Self-Defence, Hunting, and Peace. Our education team will bring history to life for your pupils in a range of engaging and interactive workshops.

Mass-produced steel

The first mass-production process for making steel was invented by Englishman Henry Bessemer. Rejected by the British his process was adopted by the German gunmaker Alfred Krupp, who became the most advanced armaments manufacturer in Europe.
