Explore the kitchen and barracks to discover what life was like for the average Victorian soldier living at Fort Nelson.

Food provided for the men was adequate but basic and was prepared in the officer's mess kitchen. The room still has the original Victorian range in place.

Visit the reconstructed barrack room where the men rested and lived while they were stationed at the Fort and see their equipment and dining area.

The hospital room shows the work of Florence Nightingale, and the improvements she introduced to help wounded soldiers recover.
