Christmas

Family activities and real reindeer
18th December - 23rd December
Free

Festive Fun Days

Experience a day of family Christmas cheer at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds. Enjoy live performances, combat displays, story telling and a treasure hunt in the museum galleries. Plus out in the stables, you’ll be able to meet some real reindeer. All completely free.

We expect to be busy over this period and to help keep everyone safe we are limiting the number of visitors in the museum at any one time.

To guarantee your visit, pre-book a free ticket to the museum through Eventbrite. Remember to book a free ticket for everyone in your party.

We will have some capacity for visitors without pre-booked tickets but you may have to wait to be admitted if the museum is busy. We’re usually quieter after 2pm and the final performance and stable visit of the day will be at 3pm.

Christmas What’s On

Meet the Reindeer

Our stables are usually home to the magnificent horses that carry our knights in our tournaments and horse shows, but this Christmas we will have some extra special visitors. Meet the reindeer and find out all about these fascinating creatures.

Visits to the stables are free. Pick up your free wristband from reception on the day. For the well-being of the animals, visitor numbers in the stable area will be controlled so you may have to wait a little while for your visit.

Christmas Combats

We’ll be giving our live combat demonstrations a real festive twist – don’t miss these entertaining free performances in the museum.

Performances daily at 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm. Venues for the performances will be displayed in the museum. Suitable for all the family.

Stories with Santa

Join Father Christmas as he recounts some jolly tales of his adventures.
Suitable for all our young and ‘young-at-heart’ visitors. Daily at 1pm.

Treasure Hunt

Many of the arms and armour on display in the museum were presented to monarchs and rulers as gifts. These gold, silver, bejewelled and beautifully decorated pieces are works of art and national treasures. Can you find them all?
Pick up your free trail on arrival at the museum. Remember to bring a pen or buy one in the museum shop and support our work as guardians of the national collection of arms and armour.

Royal Armouries reserves the right to alter the programme without prior notification. Due to the continued impact of COVID-19, our staff team may have to self-isolate at short notice. Unfortunately, this may affect our ability keep the museum fully open and to deliver our live events programme. We will only close the museum as a last resort if we cannot open safely. All updates will be communicated on our Facebook and Twitter pages as well as here on our website.
