Bringing together medieval history and modern gaming in a striking new way
Ahead of the release of DOOM: The Dark Ages, publisher Bethesda and the Royal Armouries joined forces to create an exclusive exhibition.
Blending medieval myth and futuristic mayhem, the centrepiece of the exhibition was the 11 metre long, ‘Slayeux Tapestry’. Inspired by the famed Bayeux Tapestry - the Slayeux Tapestry depicts the dynamic battles featured in DOOM: The Dark Ages.
The exhibition was opened by Reacher star and world-renowned strongman Olivier Richters (aka “The Dutch Giant”), who appeared in full DOOM Slayer costume for a grand opening ceremony.

For Bethesda, a key aspect of the Slayeux Tapestry activation was to host the exhibition in a complimentary location.
Through close discussion and a thorough understanding of the project requirements, the Royal Armouries team was able to deliver a perfect fit - arranging for the tapestry to be displayed in the museum's iconic Hall of Steel.
The exhibition made an immediate impact, thrilling DOOM fans and museum visitors alike and generating an online buzz of posts on Reddit and social media shares.
In addition, the display earned press coverage across gaming, national and regional media channels such as the Daily Mail, Yorkshire Evening Post, MCV/Develop and Playstation Trophies
