On the hunt for gnomes on a trail around the Victorian fort, you can even discover your own gnome name, and discover animals that hibernate.

Spring at the Fort will run daily during the school Easter holidays from Saturday 5 April to Monday 21 April – all activities are free but visits to the Fort need to be pre-booked.

Animals from Mill Cottage mobile farm, including pigs, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, chicks and rabbits will be on site between 10.30am and 4.30pm on the following dates only – 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17 April.

Our mini farm is a nod to the Fort’s past when William John Tattershall had a small holding here in the 1930s.

Bees and bugs are the theme for the craft activities, and there’ll be plenty of have-a-go games including hook-a-duck and farm puzzles.

Tickets need to be booked in advance online at www.royalarmouries.org as there is limited visitor capacity on site.

Fort Nelson is home to the Royal Armouries national collection of artillery so visitors will be able to discover the collection during their visit. The café will also be open for snacks and light refreshments.

Elizabeth Puddick, Public Engagement Manager, said: “We have lots of Spring activities all around the Fort this Easter holiday. From a gnome trail, bees and bugs crafts, and a petting farm for six days – we have fun activities for all the family.

“Spring at the Fort is a free event, but we do ask that visitors book their tickets in advance to guarantee their visit. We are looking forward to having lots of Spring fun this Easter holiday.”
