The evening focuses on an illustrated lecture in the War Gallery Lecture Theatre, followed by a chance to meet and talk to Karen.

There is also the opportunity to view the Royal Armouries’ Tournament Manuscript (1.35) – dating to the 15th century and comprising three books, written in French.

Karen said, “This fascinating manuscript has not been published or made widely available in any form, or even ever been displayed. The contents are viewed as an exceptional primary source for the study of the chivalric culture of late-medieval Burgundy, England, and France.”

They also include narratives of combat, including an account of a deadly skirmish at Tours in February 1446/7 which is vividly illustrated with eight miniatures.
