JOIN THE REVOLUTION! - Friday, 17 May 2013

Join the Revolution this May half-term and Bank Holiday and head to the Royal Armouries in Leeds for low-cost family fun (May 25 to June 2).

See history come alive as the museum stages a host of visual and hands-on Bank Holiday and half-term activities – including sword-fighting demonstrations, appearances by a regimental re-enactment group, and a chance for children to help “build the barricades” and raise the revolutionaries’ flag.

Visitors will get the chance to:
• Encounter red-coated infantrymen from the 33rd Foote Regiment as they go through their paces on Sunday (May 26) and Monday (May 27) – including a black-powder firing on the Bank Holiday Monday. Emphasis is placed on the lives of ordinary, rank and file private soldiers, the backbone of the 19th century Army.
• Enjoy daily screenings of the blockbusting film, Les Misérables in the War Cinema.
• Experience talks and demonstrations in the galleries, including sword-fighting demonstrations.
• Help build the barricades, and see the guillotine on the War Stage – all with related talks.

Museum admission and cinema entry are free although a small charge may apply to some activities.
