First World War Archives Project
As part of the First World War centenary commemorations, Royal Armouries is working with a number of local museums, archives and other heritage organisations on an exciting project to explore:
- the history of the Royal Small Arms Factory (Enfield), including the development and manufacture of small arms, and the contribution of the men and women who worked there
- the experiences of those who fought in local regiments and corps on the Western Front and in other theatres during the war
The project will run for two years and is funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Collections Fund.
The project will create digital copies of the archives to enable partners to use them in their own exhibition and outreach programmes, and to provide a resource for those researching the RSAF heritage.
The project will create digital copies of the documents held on deposit at Royal Armouries and its partners for use in exhibition and outreach programmes to commemorate the part played by British soldiers during the First World War.
