Impact case with cartoon backdrop

IMPACT is about the effects of gun crime on the Leeds community. This poignant and challenging exhibition documents – through photographs, personal statements and video – the effects of gun crime on a community, and the social relevance of the Royal Armouries’ collections. The re-displayed collections explores the misuse of firearms in society, past and present. It also investigates the efforts to control gun crime, in the UK generally, and in Leeds in particular.

The aim is to tell the story behind the headlines, and the enduring and extensive consequences of these tragic losses. IMPACT brings out the human consequences of shootings in order to raise public awareness. It seeks to demonstrate the self-destructive cycle of involvement with illegal firearms.

IMPACT seeks to increase understanding of the many ways that gun crime harms the community and to encourage discussion about how we can all help to seek solutions for the future.
