John Waller

John Waller spent a lifetime studying arms and armour and was a world authority on historic combat.

A noted fight director and as well as being a teacher at prestigious drama academies he directed combat sequences in many films and stage and opera productions. He was an authority on archery and for many years was an adviser to major archaeological sites, notably the Mary Rose and the Towton battlefield.

Before retirement John was Creative Director of the Royal Armouries where he directed the popular daily live interpretations and horse shows and was the adviser during the production of the many films shown within the Royal Armouries public galleries.

We are deeply saddened by the death of John, who passed away on Friday 20th April 2018 after a short illness.
