Things to see & do

There are six galleries at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, as well as daily talks and demonstrations.

Visitors can have a go at firing a crossbow at our crossbow range, and for our younger visitors we have Jester’s Yard, a special play area for dressing up, exploring, and making.

Outside the galleries we have the impressive Hall of Steel and the Tiltyard where live shows take place.

Admission is free.

Did you know?

So good they named it twice

Armour commonly and mistakenly referred to as ‘chainmail’ should correctly be called MAIL, which is derived from the Old French word maille, meaning chain. So the word ‘chainmail’ actually means CHAIN CHAIN!
