The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace

Last November Royal Armouries joined with Sing Live UK to present a sell-out performance of The Armed Man – A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins.

Royal Armouries commissioned Jenkins to write the piece to mark the end of a millennium ravaged by wars and to create a legacy of peace and hope for the future.

Last year’s performance was the first time that the music had been performed at the Museum. Such was the success of this first concert that The Armed Man will be performed again at the Museum on Sunday 11 September 2011 at 3pm.

The Armed Man has captured the public’s imagination and topped the classical CD charts several times since its release on the day after 9/11.

The concert will also help support today’s armed men and women as programmes will be sold in aid of Help for Heroes.

Come and join Sing Live for this concert performance at the Royal Armouries Museum. No experience is required and there are no auditions.

Since its premiere in 2000 this popular piece has been performed by professional and amateur musicians and choirs around the world.

The concert will also feature some wonderfully inspiring hymns and will be accompanied by The Yorkshire Wind Orchestra.

There are four rehearsals:

Saturday 30 July – Royal Armouries
Saturday 27 August – Royal Armouries
Sunday 4 September – Royal Armouries
Saturday 10 September – Grove Methodist Church, Horsforth

A fee is applicable for participants.
