An intriguing weekend of murder mysteries, concealed weapons and forensic science.

Discover the true facts and science behind Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes adventures.

Activities will include a live-action murder mystery museum trail, collection handling opportunities, demonstrations of the eclectic martial art Bartitsu and cane fighting, plus practical demonstrations of how the work of our National Firearms Centre supports criminal forensic science investigations.

Theatre Performance: The Giant Rat of Sumatra

The fascinating story of one of the great detective’s lost cases, in a brand new adventure and homage to Arthur Conan Doyle’s works, written especially for Royal Armouries. Suitable for ages 12+ /40 minutes

Mystery Trail

In ‘The Adventure of the Musgrave Ritual’, Sherlock Holmes is tasked with solving the mysterious disappearance of two staff from Mr Musgrave’s service. Deciphering an ancient riddle, he uses his powers of deduction to bring the case to rest.
Can you unravel our riddles, find the clues hidden around the museum, and solve the mystery.

Learn more about your fingerprints and get creative with finger painting.

Film Screenings

Screenings of the modern incarnation of Holmes in Guy Ritchie’s films, as well as the classic 1959 version of ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’, plus ‘The Great Mouse Detective’ for younger sleuths!
