Fort Nelson | 1871 – 2021

Fort Nelson was built during Queen Victoria’s reign to protect England from invasion. The first garrison of soldiers was stationed at the Fort from September 1871. We will be marking this 150th anniversary with a series of themed FORT 150 events. Please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for more information about upcoming events.

Museum-only visitors
The museum’s galleries and tunnel will be open on 25 & 26 September, however, there will be no access to the outdoor areas including the Artillery Hall, the Parade and ramparts.

Visits cannot be pre-booked, and admission will be subject to capacity at the time of arrival. You may need to wait to be admitted.
