Tudor Sporting Life

Tudor Power & Glory
29th August - 10:00 am - 31st August - 5:00 pm

Discover the Tudor sporting life with live shows featuring hawks, hounds and horses.

Henry VIII was a true renaissance man and famously a passionate sportsman. This event explores Henry’s competitive streak and looks at how the Tudor’s liked to relax and the pastimes they pursued.

We’ll have an exciting programme packed full of live performances, combat demonstrations, talks, tours and handling – and look out for our weekly birds of prey flight display.

Sporting Life: The Tudor horse show

Famously Henry VIII loved to ride and when he wasn’t getting married, divorced or tending to matters of state he would spend much of his time on horse-back, whether this was at the lists or more commonly on a leisurely hunt.

So what better way to understand this passion than by joining us at our thrilling bank holiday horse show. Twice a day there will be live shows featuring horses, hawks and hounds as well as an action-packed programme of live performances, combat demonstrations, talks, tours and handling.

Information is correct at the time of publication. A full daily programme of events will be published nearer the time. Look out for further ticketing information.

From 18 March 2020 our museums in Leeds and at Fort Nelson will be closed to visitors until further notice.
