Shoreham Fort: A history

Gary Baines
11th December - 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Book now

This coastal defence, built in 1857, is now the last of its kind.

Speaker: Gary Baines

Gary will discuss the progression from the prototype fortifications at Shoreham and Littlehampton to the building of numerous forts around the country, including Fort Nelson.

Shoreham Fort has a unique and diverse history which includes links to the Charge of the Light Brigade, artillery trains and silent film making.

Since 2009 Shoreham Fort has been subject to a restoration programme run by the Friends of Shoreham Fort, a registered charity run entirely by volunteers.
