This talk will commemorate the centenary of the granting of the parliamentary vote in 1918 to certain categories of women in Edwardian Britain. Although some attention will be given to the law-abiding ‘suffragists’ of the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies, the main emphasis will be upon the militant ‘suffragettes’ of the Women’s Social and Political Union. The talk will be illustrated throughout with a Powerpoint presentation.
