Imported exotic, dense wood

Appearance

Painted black, with carved moustache (upper lip only) and full head of luxuriously waved hair. Aquiline nose. Blue painted eyes.

Other Notes

There were 130 ‘blackmen’ recorded as attending the Line in 1750, and there is archival reference to their being painted in the same year.
