Dr Andrew Burnett CBE FBA
Dr Burnett has recently retired from the role of Deputy Director of the British Museum. Prior to that, he worked in the museum’s Department of Coins and Medals (1992 – 2003). An Oxford University graduate, he also studied at the Institute of Archaeology, University of London, and has a particular interest in the coinage and history of the Roman Republic.
Andrew was appointed a CBE in the 2012 New Year’s Honours List for services to the British Museum and Numismatics. A published author, his books include Coinage in the Roman World and the first two volumes of Roman Provincial Coinage. He also serves as a trustee for Gresham College, London; the American Numismatic Society, New York; the Roman Society and the Royal Numismatic Society.
Andrew Burnett became a Trustee for the Royal Armouries in March 2014.
